The LCYC Community Sailing and Education Foundation, locally known as simply the LCYC, is an organization dedicated to providing hands-on experiences through sailing for young and old as they discover the enjoyment of being on the coastal waters of Maine.
A community organization serving the five Cranberry Isles, the LCYC offers our SEA Salts rowing and sailing classes for juniors (Youngers, Middles, and Olders), as well as private lessons and casual sailing for adults. We sail in Optis and Turbo 420s, our Mercury and Laser, and Earl, a 33-foot 1937 International One Design that we race with the Northeast Harbor Fleet and offer for casual sails to our community.
All of the students will achieve a greater level of confidence on the water through a better understanding of proper boat handling and the importance of water safety and seamanship. We also integrate environmental education, island and maritime skills, and just plain fun. Ultimately, our mission is to foster confidence, community, and love and respect for boats and coastal Maine.
Our long tradition (since 1964!) of community building, teaching the enduring skills critical to island living, and providing a sense of place for both year-round and summer residents, continues to bring families back year after year.
Come have a fun adventure. Join us for the summer!
